Shrubs or subshrubs up to 3 m tall with soft or rough stellate pubescence, sometimes viscid. Leaves ovate or ± three-lobed. Stipules caducous, filiform. Pedicels articulated. Inflorescence usually in two to several-flowered, dense to loose, pedunculate terminal cymes that form leafy or naked racemose to widely spreading panicles, or sometimes solitary in the leaf axils. Epicalyx absent. Calyx lobes with 1-2 prominent costae, campanulate. Corolla white, yellow, orange-yellow, petals entire or notched. Staminal column antheriferous at apex. Styles 5. Fruits schizocarpic. Mericarps 5, pubescent, rounded or apiculate apically, ± constricted below, 2-celled, the lower 1-seeded and the upper 2-seeded, seed glabrous. Endoglossum absent or present, either represented by a short projection or totally dividing the cell into two chambers.
