Sida sect. Thyrsinda K. Schumann (1891). : Fryxell (1978 & 1979) increased this genus from one to eight species. All seven species added had previously belonged to Sida. It is currently thought to have seven species with Sidastrum acuminatum (DC.) Fryxelbeing synonymous with S. multiflorum (Jacq.) Fryxell., Sida sect. Sidastrum Grisebach (1874).: No relation (Fryxell, 1988)
Shrub, 1-2 m tall. Leaves petiolate to subsessile, narrowly elliptic to ovate. Inflorescence short axillary racemes, ample terminal racemes or panicles, or solitary in leaf axils. Pedicel sometimes subtended by 3 bractlets. Epicalyx absent. Calyx ecostate. Corolla small, white yellow, orange or rarely rose or purple, reflexed in 2 out of 7 species. Staminal column included, filameniferous at apex, anthers 5-20. Styles 5-10, stigmas capitellate. Fruits schizocarpic, oblate or conical. Mericarps 5-10, essentially indehiscent, 1-celled and 1-seeded. Endoglossum absent.
