Erect or rarely decumbent herbs. Leaves long-petiolate (up to 5 times the length of the leaf blade) getting shorter closer to the inflorescences, orbicular, variously lobed or dissected, often within an individual plant, 2-5 cm long. Inflorescences terminal. Epicalyx absent. Calyx +++. Corolla purple or lavender, occasionally yellow or white, margin enite or erose. Staminal column included, anthers in two series, outer antipetalous and lower on the column, inner antisepalous. Styles ca. 8-9, stigmatic surface introrsely decurrent. Fruits schizocarpic, oblate. Mericarps ca. 8-9, subreniform, 1-celled, 1seeded. Endoglossum absent.
