Perennial shrub, 30-60 cm tall. Leaves petiolate (the petioles progressively shorter upward), blades ovate to suborbicular, deeply cordate, crenate, obtuse or subacute, with scattered stellate pubescence. Flowers solitary in leaf axils. Epicalyx of 8 filiform bracts. Calyx ecostate, half connate, coarsely pubescent. Corolla 2-3 times length of calyx, rose or whitish with dark red centre and venation. Staminal column included, the filaments arising at 3 distinct levels. Styles 10. Fruits schizocarpic. Mericarps 5each 2-celled, 1-seeded in upper cell, lower cell sterile, seeds with tufts of hair on both ends of hilum. Endoglossum present.
