Subshrubs with stellate pubescence. Leaves petiolate, 8-13 cm long, ovate, cordate, crenate-dentate, acute or acuminate, discolorous, stipules filiform. Flowers solitary in leaf axils. Epicalyx absent. Calyx prominently 5 lobed , without costae. Corolla yellow. Staminal column filamentous at apex. Styles 12-17, stigmas capitate. Fruits schizocarpic. Mericarps 12-17, each divided into two cells, the lower cell 1-seeded, indehiscent, laterally reticulate, covered by an endoglossum, the upper cell dehiscent, 1-2 seeded laterally smooth, apically rounded, flaring widely at maturity, basal spines present on mericarps; seeds minutely pubescent.
